The Sixty-Two Society Club and Restaurant
The building at the base of Gondola One has been feeding people since long before most current residents moved to the valley. It opened as La Piñata, run by a Vail family that later handed the space its next identity as Los Amigos, a cantina where skiers ended their day on a sunny deck with pitchers of Coors and plates of nachos, watching whoever was brave enough to attempt the ski run known as Pepi's Face. That run, under that name, lasted 53 years before it closed in April 2025.
The family behind it isn't a stranger to Bridge Street. Brad Kaemmer, whose parents opened La Piñata and later ran several other Vail storefronts, grew up in the building that now houses Gorsuch and graduated from Vail Mountain School. He left for hospitality school in Las Vegas and culinary training in Lausanne before spending three decades building and selling restaurant concepts elsewhere. This year he came home to rebuild the space his own family once ran.
What Kaemmer is building is called The Sixty Two Society, named for 1962, the year Vail Mountain opened, and capped at exactly 62 members. The new space is undergoing a $9 million remodel, spanning five stories, with floor to ceiling windows, herringbone flooring made from reclaimed antique oak and Texas mesquite, a 2,000-bottle wine cellar, and a backlit onyx bar with hand-forged ironwork depicting the original Vail trail map. The dining room is set to serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner to the public, with dues-paying members getting priority reservations and access to a private lounge, a members' living room, and a ski valet arrangement with Gorsuch.
There will be seasonally inspired menus that showcase complex flavors, textures and taste combinations, from a multi-course chef's menu to a classic cheeseburger.
The chefs, Mark Adair and Nicolas Ferreira, approach sourcing good food as an extension of hospitality. They both spent their careers at the highest levels of the culinary world and understand that exceptional food is created through restraint, clarity and uncompromising standards. Their philosophy is start with the best ingredients, handle them with skill, and let their quality speak.
There will be a 2000-Bottle Wine Cellar and an award-winning sommelier who will spotlight vintages from the world's best wine regions.
